Pedro Neto will join the blues on a £54 million deal.
Chelsea have struck a £54 million deal with Wolves to sign Portuguese winger Pedro Neto, with £51.4 million as an initial payment and an additional £2.6 million in add-ons. Neto, who had a standout season for Wolves despite injury setbacks, is set to undergo a medical in London.
The 24-year-old, who was also a target for Tottenham, registered three goals and 11 assists last season. Known for his versatility and effectiveness on both flanks, Neto will join an already competitive lineup of wide players at Chelsea, including Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Raheem Sterling.
Neto’s arrival will mark Chelsea’s ninth signing of the summer, as the club continues its aggressive transfer strategy under new head coach Enzo Maresca. Chelsea have also lined up a £34.5 million deal for Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion, with Conor Gallagher expected to move to Atletico in a separate £36 million deal.
However, Chelsea’s pre-season form has raised concerns. Despite strong lineups, the Blues have won only one of their five friendlies in the USA, conceding 12 goals. Maresca, who led Leicester to a Championship title last season, faces a tough challenge ahead, with Manchester City as Chelsea’s opening Premier League opponent on August 18.
Off the pitch, Chelsea’s squad is undergoing significant changes, including the reintegration of Enzo Fernandez after a controversial social media incident and the anticipated departure of fan-favorite Conor Gallagher. With a 44-player first-team squad listed on the club’s website, Maresca’s debut Premier League season is set to be a test of his managerial mettle.
