Eddie Nketiah Agrees to Personal Terms with Marseille Ahead of Arsenal Exit

Arsenal attacker Eddie Nketiah has agreed to personal terms with Olympique Marseille ahead of a potential summer transfer.

Nketiah is keen on leaving Arsenal and has reached an agreement with Marseille. However, negotiations between the French club and the Gunners could prove challenging.

Nketiah, who came up through the ranks at Arsenal, was promoted to the first team in the winter of 2019. He had a short loan spell at Leeds United but has been part of Arsenal’s first-team setup for years. Despite being highly rated, the 24-year-old striker has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter, often playing as a backup for Mikel Arteta’s team. Last season, he featured in 37 matches but was on the pitch for less than 1,400 minutes.

Olympique Marseille have taken steps to sign Nketiah as they seek to add more quality in the final third. The French club, which recently added Mason Greenwood to their squad from Manchester United, believes Nketiah could be an exceptional acquisition. They have reached an agreement in principle on personal terms with the English striker, who is eager to join them.

Despite Nketiah’s desire to move, Arsenal are in no rush to sanction his departure, especially with Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson also expected to leave. The Gunners have set a £50 million asking price for Nketiah, higher than the £35 million AS Monaco paid for Folarin Balogun last summer. While both clubs continue to negotiate, Marseille are not ready to meet Arsenal’s demands.
