Victor Osimhen remains intent on leaving Napoli this summer despite complications in transfer talks with Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG has been negotiating with Napoli to sign the forward, but the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement. The French champions are hesitant to meet Osimhen’s €130m (£109m) release clause, and PSG has rejected Napoli’s proposal to include South Korean midfielder Lee Kang-in in the deal.
Osimhen remains determined to leave Napoli after four seasons, during which the 25-year-old has established himself as one of the top centre-forwards in Europe. The Nigeria international has scored 76 goals in 133 appearances for the Serie A side and was the league’s leading scorer when Napoli won a long-awaited Scudetto in 2022-23.
According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG’s current stance, along with the unwillingness of Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea to meet Napoli’s asking price for Osimhen, could lead the forward to consider the Saudi Pro League. Although Osimhen had been against moving to the Middle East at this stage of his career, his stance may soften if talks with PSG or English clubs do not progress.
Several Saudi Pro League teams are interested in signing Osimhen, who would be a major acquisition for the league if he were to join during the peak of his career.
Napoli is targeting a deal for Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku as a replacement for Osimhen, but they need to sell Osimhen to finance the deal. Head coach Antonio Conte is eager to reunite with Lukaku after a successful period together at Inter Milan.
