Chelsea have made an initial approach to sign Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, despite already having several senior goalkeepers in their squad.
Jorgensen impressed last season, becoming a regular for the Spanish side and ranking second among all goalkeepers in Europe’s top five leagues with 143 saves.
Chelsea view the 22-year-old as a high-potential player and are looking to bring in competition for their number one spot.
This interest comes even though Chelsea needs to offload Kepa Arrizabalaga, who has returned from a loan spell at Real Madrid and is attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League.
Additionally, there are doubts over Djordje Petrovic’s future, despite him making 31 appearances in all competitions last season. Chelsea is targeting a new goalkeeper to compete with Robert Sanchez for the first-choice position at Stamford Bridge.
While Chelsea is considering multiple goalkeeping options, Jorgensen is high on their shortlist.
